DOSERSON: Flowers in the Garden-single (release date May 7, 2021)

Quiet Fire

The Thoughtful Life

Swedish multi-instrumentalist/composer/vocalist MARKUS NILSSON leaves his bassist role in symphonic progressive rock band Soniq Circus, and strikes out in a different direction.

In his solo- and at times collaborative- incarnation he terms “emotional progressive rock”, he uses the moniker DOSERSON. THIS incarnation- DOSERSON– is characterized by crisp, spare, pristine, elegant compositions using clean and at times crunchy electric guitars, full, deep bass guitar, vibrant drumming, and a variety of mostly restrained keyboards and synthesizer sounds.

Flowers in the Garden

Clean electric guitar chords open in a simple progression, soon joined by pulsing bass, drums, and wistful keyboards. It’s mid-tempo, insistent and driving, yet not intrusive.

Moody electric piano takes a meditative turn, then eerie and hushed vocals enter, posing the questions about choices one makes- and then lives with- or changes.

Electric guitars come crunching in with vibrant chords, which then subside into a moody passage, again with those breathy, eerie vocals. The suggestion: ‘truth’ is always out of reach.

Crunchy guitars enter, and then subside into a moody passage with near-symphonic keyboards. Wandering clean electric guitar takes a lead, then in the distance jangly electric guitar chords with vibrant drumming.

It’s a crisp passage with mellotron sounds in the background, which builds, only to usher in the hard-driving gutsy guitar chords, with electric guitar picking out a melodic lead.

Hushed vocals pose yet another challenge- how do identities develop and who imparts the potential…and the poison?

Clean guitar lines set over the repetitive, meditative guitar progression subsides into the pulsing bass line…

Then fades.

Pay Attention!

Flowers in the Garden” demonstrates the subtle, thoughtful, brooding ambiance that DOSERSON AKA MARKUS NILSSON brings to bear, as a run-up to the forthcoming EP- as yet unnamed- due later 2021.

No bombast. No screaming lead guitars or roaring symphonies or massive choral majesty.

Rather- quiet fire. Minimalistic. Pristine. Brooding. Restrained…yet powerful.
